Anorexia On The Brain

Anorexia is not a choice—it’s a silent, invasive force that takes root in the brain, distorting thoughts and emotions while harming its victim from within. Misunderstood by many, it often leads to conflicting narratives in our communities. In this personal project, I used photography as the central medium to visually represent what anorexia does to the brain. Paired with poetry to express its emotional impact and an audio piece to depict the intrusive inner dialogue, this work offers a raw and multi-sensory exploration of this complex mental illness.

Tension – The Brutality Behind the Beauty of Ballet
Tension explores the harsh reality hidden beneath the elegance of ballet. While ballet is often admired for its beauty and grace, this project reveals the darker, more brutal side of the art form. The series begins with striking, elegant imagery that captivates the viewer, gradually transitioning to darker, more visceral representations of the toll ballet takes on the body.
Stitching is incorporated into the photographs to symbolize the physical and emotional strain endured by ballerinas. These stitched elements emphasize the tension within their bodies while reflecting the often harsh and morbid realities of the discipline. Tension is a raw and compelling exploration of beauty and sacrifice.
